Since the end of June, I haven't been using my Windows desktop system. I've been away from home, and my main device is still my Mac computer. The desktop is mainly used for gaming and occasionally browsing the internet, trading coins, and watching the market.
It wasn't until yesterday, July 10th, that I used my Windows computer again. During this time, I updated the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China online banking assistant and installed the NetEase UU emulator.
Subsequently, I found that whenever I tried to open files or software, I would always get a prompt saying: "Your internet security settings are preventing one or more files from opening."
A restart would fix the issue temporarily, but it would reoccur the next time. I followed tutorials to use Windows' built-in system restore and update features, but they didn't solve the problem.
I also discovered that the Task Manager couldn't be opened. Initially, it would say that my internet security settings were blocking it, and later it would mention that the process file was in use. The names of folders like "Downloads" and "Documents" in This PC were in English instead of Chinese. Additionally, files in the C drive were also inaccessible, and even the Kaspersky installation package in the Downloads folder couldn't be opened.
Checking the properties of the C drive showed that the current user had no permissions, and files deleted from the D drive would reappear after a restart, while newly added files would disappear.
Restarting would temporarily solve the issue of inaccessible software files. Scans with 360 Total Security, Huorong Security, and Kaspersky didn't detect any viruses.
I tried using Windows tools to redownload the system from: https://www.microsoft.com/zh-cn/software-download/windows10ISO, but reinstalling or repairing the system didn't work.
I'm currently unsure of what caused the system to behave this way. I'm not sure if I damaged the system through my actions or if it's infected with a virus. With limited technical knowledge, I can only resort to the last option of reinstalling the system, as my main focus is still on my Mac computer.
There isn't any important data, so I'll take photos of the installed software and reinstall them after resetting the system.
Looks like I have more tinkering to do.
